Pad Update

I had a rather spendy morning at Ikea today, and my apartment already feels completely different. I only got a couple of bigger pieces, and a bunch of little stuff. That little stuff sure adds up, yo.

I got the FORHOJA cart for my kitchen, which is all kinds of awesome. I already put my toaster oven and (attachment-less) mixer on it, as well as my pots and pans. It's also nice not to have to use my stove top for storage. I plan to add a paper towel holder on the underside of the countertop, and may put hanging hooks on the other side to hang stuff on it. I'm actually impressed that this piece is made of wood, rather than fiberboard. A note to Ikea: I really shouldn't have to use sandpaper on your furniture to make their assembly possible.

I also got the LOKKA table, which is wicked cool. I've got it wedged in the corner right now, and will be mostly using it as a desk (yay for laptops!), however, it opens up into a square table, which can seat four people.

I got 4 of the BYGEL hanging rails. They're supposed to be used in the kitchen to hang other kitchen accessories on, but I'll be using them in the bathroom, to hang towels, kind of like a ladder. I could have gone for the rails specifically meant for that purpose, except that if they're labeled for the bathroom, they cost 4 times as much. Rappy am smrt!

I also got a bunch of other crap, because this was Ikea after all. For the kitchen, I got a colander, a set of three covered bowelsbowls, and a dish rack. For the bathroom I got canvas storage containers, which are pretty cool. They come in 3 different sizes, and I was able to split up all of my personal care/grooming products into a logical division.

In short, my apartment is starting to look like a grown up lives in it.

In cat news, my cats continue to be the best thing ever. That's Kiwi on the left, and Schnitzel on the right.
