You know you've lived in Israel for too long when...

The following conversation took place last night, at eyeball's place:

rappy: Have you spoken to totem today?
eyeball: No.
rappy: He wouldn't be at Neve Sha'anan today for any reason, would he?
eyeball: No.
rappy: You're sure?
eyeball: Yeah.
rappy: Should we maybe call him to see if he's still with us?
eyeball: Nah. If he were dead we'd have heard by now.
rappy: Ok.

Reading it was almost like reliving it, because her description captures exactly how I felt at the time, and those sentiments had a pretty big part in my decision to leave Israel in 2002. In fact, read her entire "How Lisa Came to Israel series" - it explains a lot about how Israelis become desensitized to what goes on around here and is kind of interesting in the way that it parallels my experience here in my first time around.
