The scene: Rappy and coworker making coffee in kitchenette, gabbing.
coworker: I love Kibbeh, but I can't quite figure out how my grandmother used to make it. The filling works, the dough works, but putting it together, it crumbles.
rappy: I made an Indian dish last night, and I've come to the conclusion that Indians have too much time on their hands...
Indian coworker walks by at exact moment that last part of sentence is uttered
rappy:: D'oh! I meant it was too much futzing around in the kitchen! *dies of shame*

At one point I asked him "How long have you been practicing here?" which I meant in the town where we now live. He gave me a withering look and said, "I've been here for many, many years." He thought I meant in the USA. I wanted to protest "That's not what I meant!" Humiliating!
