Rappy's friend (to waiter): What is your soup of the day?
Waiter: A spinach and mushroom soup.
Rappy: *Shoots glance at friend*
Rappy's friend (to waiter): And the crepe of the day?
Waiter: Spinach with goat's cheese. The salad of the day is spinach with crumbled feta.
Rappy: *Does double take* (Waiter leaves)
Rappy's friend: The chef must have just come back from vacation.
Rappy: ON MARS.

Overheard at a sushi restaurant yesterday.
The scene: a table with two young women (20s), rappy sits with her back to them.
Woman 1: I've been to a ton of music concernts.
Woman 2: Really, which ones?
Woman 1: Jennifer Lopez, Celine Dion, Michael Bolton... He was great.
Rappy: *Cringe.*
Woman 2 (with obvious disdain): And you enjoy these kinds of shows?
Woman 1: Oh, sure, they're so great. I also went to see 'Nsync, but the best concert I ever went to was Paul McCartney. He's so awesome.
Woman 2: A-ha.
Woman 1: I don't understand why people would go to a concert where you have to stand. I never go to shows that don't have seating.
Rappy: *Cringe*
Woman 2: I never go to shows that do.
It's been a while since I've updated and I've gotten a few more items crossed off as late.
18. Learn to appreciate red wine (this one might be my downfall) - I can now drink a glass or two without wanting to spit it out, which I think qualifies. There are some I even quite enjoy!
35. Be part of a television studio audience - I've been translating Sesame Street scripts for the last few months and was able to attend a filming of the new Israeli production, scheduled to air here around December. So. Cute.
51. Start running - [Started August 2006] have gone out about 4 times. Still too tenuous to consider complete, but definitely in progress. After running 2k the other day, my boyfriend said - only 40 more to go! (He's under the impression we're running the NYC marathon next year).
92. Get whisks and dough hook for hand-me-down Kenwood mixer - [Completed 25/08/06]
I've completed 47 items, and have a year and a bit to finish off the rest. I may edit the list a little, to replace the undoable things with more realistic goals.
I've realized that I'm not really good at developing habits. Most of the tasks that required me to repeat an action consecutively have failed miserable, so I'm better off with one-time actions.
I'll keep that in mind when it's time to come up with another list, in October 2007/
