Posted by johanna at March 28, 2004 01:59 AMso does that mean your sister can explain those pants that chefs wear?
Posted by tien at March 28, 2004 11:12 AMtien, do you mean why they are checkered blue? You know how in hotels they have these rugs with busy patterns, it disguises stains. That is the exact purpose of the chefs' pants, though you wonder if that is the case, why the entire uniform isn't checkered, because by the time I finish a day of cooking my whites turn into a brownish orange...
yes, that's exactly what i was wondering. i thought it might have more to do with retarding fire. but you're the expert. i've seen some other chefs with black with some sort of pinstripe action as well. they looked out of place with their fancy pants.
Posted by tien at March 28, 2004 05:01 PMI guess you're more likely to rub your dirty hands on your pants than on your shirt.
Posted by rappy at March 28, 2004 05:39 PMtien, the material the pants are made of is actually a special material that does have to do with retarding fire, but the pattern has nothing to do with it, it's just supposed to be a practical way of hiding nasty stains, though if I take a closer look at my uniform, not very well.
